How It All Began
Back in June 2008, I launched Hundred Pushups, a free six-week training program designed to help people work toward completing 100 consecutive pushups.
The idea was simple: make fitness accessible to everyone, regardless of their starting ability, with a straightforward, progressive training plan that required no expensive equipment or gym membership.
The response was fantastic.
People from all over the world started taking the challenge, sharing their progress, and discovering just how much they could achieve with a little consistency and determination.
As the Hundred Pushups community grew, I began receiving requests for similar programs targeting other muscle groups.
One suggestion came up again and again: Could I create a six-week program for situps?
And that’s how Two Hundred Situps came about.
The Two Hundred Situps Challenge
Building on the same principles as Hundred Pushups, I developed the Two Hundred Situps Challenge.
The goal? To help people progressively improve their abdominal endurance and work toward completing 200 consecutive situps.
Of course, 200 situps isn’t something everyone can—or needs to—achieve. The real value of the challenge is the progress you make along the way.
Whether you can currently manage five situps, twenty, or fifty, the program provides a structured approach to building endurance at your own pace.
There’s no fancy equipment, no gym membership, and no complicated workout routine. Just a little commitment, a sensible progression, and the determination to keep improving.
Getting Started
- Take the Initial Test — Find out how many controlled situps you can comfortably perform.
- Start Week 1 — Follow the workouts appropriate for your starting level.
- Follow the Six-Week Program — Work through the training plan, allowing yourself adequate recovery between sessions.
- Take the Final Test — See how far you’ve come!
Remember, this isn’t a race. Good technique, consistency, and gradual improvement matter far more than reaching a particular number.
A Little Progress Goes a Long Way
One of the things I’ve always enjoyed about these challenges is hearing from people who surprised themselves with what they achieved.
You don’t need to be an experienced athlete to get started. You simply need to be willing to give it a try.
And if you don’t reach 200 situps in six weeks? That’s absolutely fine. Repeat a week, adjust the program to your ability, and keep working toward your own goals.
The important thing is that you’re moving forward.
I’d Love to Hear From You
Feedback from people following these programs has always been an important part of their development.
If you’ve completed the challenge, have a question, or simply want to share your experience, feel free to get in touch.
I’d love to hear how you’re getting on.
Good luck, and happy situps!
